The short version
Atlaz uses three cookies: two to work and one to know which pages get read. No advertising, no profiling and nothing shared with anyone to follow you around. And the measurement ones don't switch on until you say yes.
The ones that make the app work
Your session cookie is what lets Atlaz know it's you without logging in on every screen; without it you can't use it. The language one remembers the one you chose. These two can't be turned off because without them there's no app, which is why the law doesn't ask for permission to set them.
The measurement one, which we do ask about
We use Google Analytics to know how many people arrive, which pages get read and which get abandoned. It helps us decide what to improve, nothing else. If you say «only the necessary ones» it doesn't load: not the script, not its cookies, not a single request to Google. You can change your mind by clearing your browser cookies, and the notice will ask again.
And what stays on your phone without being a cookie
The light or dark theme, the menu folded or open, your answer to this notice and what you tick off the shopping list all live in your own browser and never travel to a server. The shopping one clears itself when you close the tab.
And what you scan doesn't leave here
When you read a barcode, the lookup against the product database is made by our server, not your phone. And the product photo is served by us too. So nobody outside learns your IP address or what you just looked at in the aisle — in an app where people check whether something contains pork, that isn't a technical detail.
How to delete them
From your browser settings, like any other site. Deleting the session one logs you out; deleting the language one just means it gets picked automatically.
And while we're on biscuits
If it's the other kind you're worried about — the edible ones — scan the pack's barcode in the app and we'll tell you what's really in them: calories, macros and the ingredient list read end to end. Those are worth looking at before you accept them.
